![]() In the activities below, students will use tuning forks to learn more about sound. Once a sound wave enters your ear canal and vibrates your eardrum, your brain interprets the vibrations as sound. Together, a collection of compressions and rarefactions form a sound wave. As the tine’s move back and forth at tremendous speeds, the vibrations press air molecules together - forming compressions - and force them apart - forming rarefactions. The tuning fork’s vibrations interact with the surrounding air to create sound. The vibrations are usually so fast that you can only see it in slow motion. When you strike it against a soft surface - like the bottom of a shoe or the palm of your hand - the tines vibrate back and forth several hundred times per second. And one way to demonstrate this relationship is by using tuning forks to conduct simple experiments.Ī tuning fork is an all-metal device that has a handle and two prongs, known as tines. Understanding the connection between sound and vibrations is an important science concept for students to know. And whether it’s the sound of a person’s voice, the sound of keys jingling, or the sound of a book slamming to the ground, sound is produced when objects vibrate. Of particular interest to me, however, is discovering specific techniques targeted towards Lyme bacteria’s adhesion proteins that allow it to bind so tightly to its host’s body.Sound is all around us. I continue to discover more and more disease-specific information and techniques using sound, tuning forks, cranial and osteopathic manipulation. When I look at this from a vibrational perspecitve… I intuit that the vibrational shift within the tissues encourages a similar shift within the vascular, lymphatic and organ systems that support those tissues’ health and vitality. It also helps prevent a detox reaction and helps the tissues to heal more quickly. This allows the bacteria and metabolic waste products that are released from the connective tissue to be more easily excreted from the body. The treatments also help optimize function of the elimination pathways of the body (liver, gut, kidneys). ![]() I’m currently conducting research to support this outcome, but for now I’ll just have to say that intuitively this is what I feel. Then it seems as if there is a natural, almost effortless, “purging,” both physically and energetically, of the organism from the body. I use the words “loosen” and “disconnect” here, but it feels more like there is a vibrational shift that occurs – the vibration of the body no longer supports the vibration of the bacteria. I “reasoned” that this was, at least in part, because the specific frequencies of vibration that I was using could “loosen” and “disconnect” the borrelia bacteria from connective tissue and release it into the blood stream for elimination from the body. For instance, I was getting particularly great results with patients with Lyme disease and associated coinfections (such as Babesiosis and Bartonella). I began modifying the treatments to be more specific to individual disease processes in order to yield even better results. The foundation of my treatments is always osteopathic, then I enhance them with sound and tuning fork techniques. I was so amazed that I started using my techniques on my patients and they too reported amazing benefits in a wide variety of symptoms and disease processes. I began experimenting with sound on myself using tuning forks and singing bowls and had marvelous results in healing symptoms of anxiety, back pain, digestion issues, and overall energy levels. The notion that everything is vibration ‘shook’ my perspective of the world and reality as a whole. This is one way that sound can travel from one source, such as a tuning fork, to reach another object, like our bodies. Waves of pressure can travel through any medium – water, air, even solid objects. Vibration is a physical wave of pressure. I first learned about sound healing several years ago through independent study with a particular interest in quantum physics… which teaches us that everything is vibration and everything has a frequency.
